Airbnbは10月17日、6月に公表していた「世界で最もクレージーなアイディア」100件に最高10万ドルずつ資金を提供するプロジェクト「$10,000,000 OMG! Fund」の審査結果を発表した。
世界中から数万件の応募があったといい、審査の結果20ヶ国・地域の100件を選出。2023年夏までにゲストを迎えられるよう建設などの準備を進める。
応募作品は、ユニークで刺激的なデザインやサステナビリティへの配慮、没入型のゲスト体験などを特徴としたものが多く、例えば太陽光発電は7931件で提案。このほか、音楽をテーマとしたのが961件、フルーツは777件、ワインは680件、キノコが509件、星空は400件などとなったという。
採用された100件の内訳を国別で見ると米国が47件で最も多く、2位と3位は英国とメキシコで9件ずつ。4位以下はインド、豪州、南アフリカ、アルゼンチン、カナダ、アイルランド、タイ、チリなどとなった。
北アジアでは日本と台湾が1件ずつ入り、日本は「鯉の泳ぐ池に浮かぶドームハウス（Dome-House Floating in a Koi Fish Pond）」が選ばれている。
